2. Activist Feedback
Tom and Gail, leafleting at a Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W.
Smith concert in Rochester, NY, write: It was a bitter, cold evening,
and people were hurrying as fast as they could to get into the warmth of
the auditorium. Even though everyone was freezing, they were so pleasant
and eager to take a leaflet. Almost everyone thanked us. Of course, they
probably thought we were the ushers handing out that evening's program!
We only had one negative comment. As a couple glanced at the leaflet
as they were going in the door, the woman said, "Oh, Oh …" The man
asked, "what's wrong"? and she said in a real sarcastic voice,
"VEGETARIANS"!
We were able to hand out leaflets to a LOT of young people who seemed
very pleased that we thought enough about them that THEY should get one,
too. In all, we handed out about 400 leaflets.
Thank you for the opportunity for working for CVA and trying to
spread Christ's message of Compassion for ALL. It made us feel like we
were able to do SOMETHING for the animals, at least in some small way.
Cathy writes: I wanted to share that on Saturday, October 11, I took
part in the Earth Expo event in Sylvania, Ohio. The Earth Expo took
place in 50 cities around the United States and the world in order to
address concerns that affect our air, water, and soil quality. I had a
table for the Christian Vegetarian Association from 9am-3pm that day,
with a display board on how vegetarianism benefits the environment.
Although the event was not as well attended as I had hoped, I did make
some good contacts and gave out a number of CVA booklets. I still have
booklets left which I will use when I have another opportunity such as
this. It was a great experience and I look forward to the next time I
can represent the Christian Vegetarian Association.
