Why Did Uzzah Die?

2. June/July issue of The Peaceable Table

Contents include:

* The Editorial, "The Hidden Paradise," explores our prophetic work to help liberate our non-human cousins from enslavement and violence. That foundation is the divine Presence which, usually unperceived, permeates the universe with splendor and love – a love that must rule both our end and our means.

* In the new column "A Glimpse of the Peaceable Kingdom" we tell the story of a boxer dog who became the adoptive father of an abandoned baby goat.

* In one of the "NewsNotes," the prestigious Union of Concerned Scientists reports on the huge damage being done by CAFOs (factory farms), whose owners are evading responsibility.

* The "Film Review" is about the second movie in the Chronicles of Narnia series, Prince Caspian, in which talking animals take a major part in reclaiming their country from the usurping Telmarines.

* The "Recipes" column features a tempting cheeseless "Pizza Margherita" with alternative toppings.

* Herman Daggett is the intrepid "Pioneer" who spoke up for the rights (!) of animals more than two hundred years ago in a commencement address at Providence College, now Brown University.
