The King Amendment is Dead!
The “King Amendment”, which would have nullified virtually every state law in the U.S. protecting farmed animals from even egregious cruelty, was dropped from the House farm bill yesterday. This is clearly a victory for animal advocates.

This is great news for God’s animals raised for food and for anyone who chooses compassion over cruelty and peace over violence. This is also a reminder that there are still many people, much like Rep. King, who look at God’s animals as simple commodities to be used and abused for profit, convenience and power.
There’s much work to do but there are many of us who truly believe that being good stewards of God’s Creation means to do our best to live in harmony with our fellow Earthlings.
