In poultry slaughterhouses, birds die in two ways. Both ways are
filled with fear and pain, but one is more agonizing than the other.
Birds are shackled and hung by their fragile legs, and led to an
electrified bath of water. However, some birds lift their heads up
and avoid it, which prevents them from getting unconscious. Then
they go through the neck cutting blade, which they might miss again
and finally to a scalding bath of water. Either way, scalded alive
or dead, is the fate of all birds raised for food.

The
needless and merciless business of raising animals for food causes
unspeakable suffering to all of God’s Creation. We need to
acknowledge and realize that when we cause misery to God’s animals
we are causing misery to ourselves as well. We reap what we sow.
