Many Christians around the world choose to give up or abstain
from something, such as a type of food, during the Lent season in
order to strengthen their faith and character. Abstaining from
eating God’s animals during Lent might actually be a very effective
way to grow spiritually, because it leads us to mindful eating and
to causing the least harm possible to God’s farmed animals. Eating a
plant-based diet during Lent might not feel like sacrificing, but
actually like giving and offering compassion, mercy and love to our
fellow beings.
