Science is clear: if we don’t curb greenhouse gas emissions
global warming is going to cause much hardship globally. One of the
catastrophic effects of global warming is the increase in poverty
worldwide, especially in those poor countries were poverty rates
already are very high. Climate change is causing extreme heat waves,
declining global food stocks, loss of ecosystems and biodiversity,
life-threatening sea level rise and water shortages. Jim Yong
Kim, World Bank President states, “We will never end poverty if we
don’t tackle climate change. It is one of the single biggest
challenges to social justice today.”
