Dr. Dean Ornish, clinical professor of medicine at the University
of California, San Francisco, and the founder of the Preventive
Medicine Research Institute, believes that what you eat is as
important as what you don't eat.
He says that the human diet needs to be high in non-processed
healthy carbs such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes.
The hundreds of thousands of health-enhancing substances in these
foods seem to have a protective effect from cancer and other chronic
diseases as well as prolonging life.

With the obesity epidemic and the increasing number of people
trying different diets to lose health, Dr. Ornish's suggestions are
right on the spot with the exception of fish, since there’s nothing
in fish we cannot obtain from plant-based foods. Eating a
whole-foods plant-based diet is a win-win situation for our health,
animals and the planet.
