This is a great editorial in the Pork Magazine where it’s
obvious that pork producers are paying attention to animal advocates
and concerned consumers. After so many companies (McDonald’s, Burger
King, Wendy’s, Safeway, Winn Dixie, Quiznos, Red Robin, Subway, Bon
Appetit Management Company, Compass Group and Tim Hortons) have
issued deadlines for suppliers to phase-out gestation crates and
move to group housing, “pork producers are fuming” and weighing
their options.

Pork producers are fuming because their rotten, unethical,
merciless business is being exposed. The more exposure factory
farming gets, the easier consumers can make the connection between
their choices and their meals. Most people do not want animals
harmed, and therefore, by learning about the suffering farmed
animals undergo unnecessarily they might be led to choose a
compassionate diet.
