This is an excellent piece by Wayne Pacelle (CEO of The Humane
Society of the United States), explaining why the “ag-gag” bills
introduced in several states are taking this nation in the wrong
direction by trying to conceal practices that are unethical and very
abusive to farmed animals. What is worse, the goal of this bill is also
to punish those who try to expose these practices.

“Ag-gag” bills are the most obvious red flag that say there’s
something fundamentally wrong with the factory farming industry. When
there’s nothing to hide, there’s nothing to fear. The factory farming
industry has much to fear and to lose if more consumers learn every day
about the horrendous and egregious practices that go on behind their
walls.
