Once again the issue of overuse of antibiotics in farmed animals is
making headlines because of the concerns this overuse might promote the
development of drug-resistant bacteria. In response, the Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) plans to restrict cephalosporins, a family of
antibiotics commonly used to treat livestock, starting April 5. To many
concerned people, this move is long overdue.

The devastating effects of the irresponsible use of antibiotics by
agribusiness are yet to be seen. Unfortunately, the factory farming
industry is powerful enough to do much damage in God’s Creation with
little o no oversight. This is why is imperative that consumers become
the check and balance of such industries by withdrawing their support.
