Vegetarian Couple Denied Chance of Adopting a Child
A vegetarian couple in Greece has been denied the chance to adopt a
child in fear they could impose their vegetarian diet on the child. "We
asked the University of Crete medical school on the issue and they said
the child's diet must include meat, fish, etc," the head of the city's
welfare services, Spyros Epitropakis, said.

How sad it is that people are discriminated against for their choice
of a compassionate diet! It is also surprising that still, on this day
and age, medical doctors are ignorant about the health benefits of a
well-balanced plant-based diet. It is important to note that many
millions of people thrive on plant-based diets. These diets are
recommended by many health organizations on the basis of the many
benefits they have, such as the prevention and rate reduction of chronic
diseases and even the reversal of diabetes, heart disease, etc.
Last but not least, the spiritual benefits of adopting a plant-based
diet should not be discounted. Encouraging a child’s sense of compassion
and love is an admirable thing to do that will in turn benefit all of
God’s Creation: humans, animals and the environment.
