“Eating Animals” Selected for UNC and Duke Summer Reading Program
"Eating Animals" by Jonathan Safran Foer has been
selected for summer reading at UNC and Duke. “I think any student
reading this book will look at the research that the author did and
realize that that’s what they should think about doing for all the big
decisions in their lives,” said Jan Yopp, the UNC dean of summer school
and chairwoman of UNC’s selection committee. "Eating Animals"
looks in depth at factory farms and the ethical and environmental issues
surrounding them. It does a great job at exposing the inherent cruelty
and brutality of animal agriculture in a personable manner.

Jonathan Safran Foer exposes the readers to the significant and
unavoidable ethical issues of supporting animal agriculture. It is
indeed one of the best books on the subject that everyone should read.
As stewards of God's Creation we have the responsibility to look into
the consequences of our choices, whether it is convenient or not.
