Swordfish toward Extinction
According to the European Union (EU), the swordfish now ranks as one of the Mediterranean's most vulnerable species due to direct commercial fishing and to incidental catches in other fishing operations. The EU and ICCAT (the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas) are working together to develop a plan in order to prevent the "by-catch" of swordfish by vessels that are supposed to be fishing for other species. Industrial fishing (legal and illegal) has been depleting our oceans. As long as the demand for fish continues, we'll be participating in the destruction of God's aquatic creatures.
