Less Meat, Less Greenhouse Gases

A study by the Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency indicates that cutting back on beef and pork intake could wipe $20 trillion off the cost of fighting climate change. This prediction takes into account farmland that is used to grow extra food to make up for the lost meat, but that requires less area, so some will be abandoned; and at the same time, millions of tons of the greenhouse gas methane would also be saved every year due to reduced emissions from farms.
