pathogenic bacterium C. jejuni originates in animals farmed for meat and
poultry, leading cause of gastroenteritis in the developed world, which
is thought to infect 2 to 3 million people per year in the U.S. alone.

Factory farms contribute greatly to the high rates of many diseases,
in addition to causing unimaginable suffering to God's animals and
environmental devastation. Instead of trying to cure diseases, we should
focus more on preventing them. In this case, transitioning to a
plant-based diet could greatly reduce the rate of foodborne infections.
