Former Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Plant Reopens
Former Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing plant in Chino, California will
reopen in a month under new management and name, American Beef Packers.
Hallmark/Westland ceased operations earlier this year after incidents of
cruelty to cows at the plant led to the largest beef recall in US
history. The new plant will have at least 14 camera stations outside and
inside the plant and an independent third party will audit the video
surveillance.

As long as factory farms exist, it is imperative to have them
monitored in order to reduce animal abuse by workers. Hopefully,
American Beef Packers will enforce their surveillance intentions and
hopefully more factory farms follow this example.
