Slaughterhouse Cruelty Revealed
The Humane Society revealed an undercover video last month showing unimaginable torture and suffering of cows at a California slaughterhouse. This plant was using a range of torture including waterboarding to prod unfit animals into the slaughterhouse so they could be processed into food that may have ultimately ended up in school lunch programs, among others. The video showed workers kicking cows, ramming them with forklift blades, applying electric shocks and even using a hose to simulate the feeling of drowning so the animals would revive long enough to pass federal inspection (video can be seen at http://tinyurl.com/yul2lw) . Such cruelty and hardness of heart is impossible to understand. God’s animals are victimized to such proportions that one can wonder if we have lost all compassion and mercy for our fellow creatures. It’s imperative that that we stand for what is just, and defend God’s Creation as our role, as stewards, requires it.
