Number of Teen Vegetarians Increasing

According to the latest Harris poll the number of teen vegetarians has tripled in the last ten years, indicating that about three percent of teens are vegetarians.

Dietitians are warning that although a well-balanced vegetarian diet can be healthy, teens should not give up meat without learning how to replace it with plant-based foods in order to make sure the body receives enough of the nutrients (iron, protein, B vitamins, etc.) that it needs.

Great meat substitutes are tofu, seitan, beans and "mock" meats.
