New USDA Animal Research Facility
A new U.S. Department of
Agriculture high-containment large animal facility in Iowa is under
construction and will focus on research on a variety of endemic,
zoonotic and foreign animal diseases in what is called Biological
Safety Level 3 space. The new building will house cattle, bison,
elk, deer, reindeer, sheep and hogs. Animal agriculture industry
groups are in support.

Many of the diseases afflicting
farmed animals are linked to the way they are raised: under extreme
confinement, suffering and pain. To put many animals through
suffering in a research facility for the benefit of humans, so the
meat industry can continue raising animals in unnatural ways, shows
no compassion or respect for God’s animals.
