The Farm Bill governs what children
are fed in schools and what food assistance programs can distribute
to recipients. The bill provides billions of dollars in subsidies;
however, most of its support goes to the production of meat and
dairy products by giving more than 70% of subsidies to those
industries. On the other hand, fruit and vegetable farmers receive
less than 1% of government subsidies.

It’s no wonder that some diseases
such as obesity, heart disease, cancer and stokes, among many
others, are on the rise in the US and other countries were the
typical diet is heavily based on animal products. The government,
which has the power to support industries that promote health and
compassion toward animals, chooses to support those that bring
misery to humanity and animals. Sadly, greed, power and profit drive
many industries as well as the US government in this case.
