Giant Tuna Numbers About to Collapse
Over-exploitation, pollution and climate change have devastated many
of the world's commercial fish stocks. Now, due to the increase
demand for sushi, the giant tuna population is under serious risk of
collapsing. Susana Sainz, a fisheries officer with campaign group
WWF is convinced that the environmental impact would be catastrophic
because "The bluefin is a top predator so the whole ecology of the
Mediterranean would be destabilized."

Never in human
history have we seen this dramatic decline in the number of aquatic
animals. The fishing industry is decimating aquatic wildlife to a
point of no return unless the consumer, who drives the demand for
products, makes responsible decisions and dramatic changes. We are
called to be good stewards of God’s Creation and the state of our
oceans shows we are not doing a good job at it.
