Animal sacrifices
During the Muslim feast of Eid al-Adha, animals are sacrificed in a ritual commemorating the biblical account of God's provision of a ram for Abraham. Over a thousand Turks ended up in hospital being treated for injuries related to the ritual and 3 died of heart attacks trying to restrain animals. Although illegal, even some people sacrificed animals in their backyards and on roadsides.

20061231/ap_on_re_mi_ea/turkey_animal_sacrificeCelebrating God’s provision shouldn’t entail causing unnecessary suffering to animals for God prefers righteousness, not sacrifices. We can celebrate God’s provision by choosing a plant-based diet.
