Foie Gras cruelty
Four Paws International provided footage and photographs of foie gras
production in Hungary. The photographs, published in London’s Daily Mail
newspaper, show goslings being shred alive.
The farmers justify this practice by stating that female baby geese
don’t grow as quickly as do male goslings so, instead of being force fed
for foie gras, shortly after hatching they are dropped into a giant
funnel that leads to the blades which slice them into feed for other
animals.
France and Hungary are the world's second largest foie gras producers
in the world. The European Union wants force-feeding to be prohibited
within 15 years. Even the Pope, Benedict XVI, has denounced the practice
as being in violation of Biblical principles.
