Moratorium on expansion of pork production in Manitoba, Canada
Canada's biggest hog-producing province was issued a temporary ban
two weeks ago without any warning to the industry. This moratorium is
supposed to last a year while an environmental agency reviews new water
laws. Farmers, who say this issue is political given the upcoming
elections, threaten with going to court if the Manitoba government does
not remove its moratorium on expansion of pork production.

Whether political or not, a pause to look at the devastating
environmental consequences that hog factory farms have on the
environment, is good news for Creation. Hopefully this moratorium will
stay in place and new information regarding water contamination comes to
light.
