Moratorium on expansion of pork production in Manitoba, Canada
Canada's biggest hog-producing province was issued a temporary ban two weeks ago without any warning to the industry. This moratorium is supposed to last a year while an environmental agency reviews new water laws. Farmers, who say this issue is political given the upcoming elections, threaten with going to court if the Manitoba government does not remove its moratorium on expansion of pork production.
