Radio story on factory farming
Voice of America has recently released a six-minute radio story about
factory farming and the issues surrounding it. The story includes
interviews with The Humane Society of the United States, Farm Sanctuary,
Humane Farm Animal Care, and the Animal Agriculture Alliance.
Among the
topics discussed are battery cages, gestation crates, and the federal
Farm Animal Stewardship Purchasing Act. It is evident from the story
that the factory farming industry representatives pretend to show
concern for their animals and reassure the public that they care very
much about their welfare. Otherwise, they state, the animals would be
sick, which would compromise the food supply.

Factory farming officials keep trying to mislead the public regarding
the suffering of the animals, the lack of safety of the food derived
from them, and the way this industry pollutes the environment. Thanks to
many organizations such as HSUS, Farm Sanctuary, PETA, CVA and others,
the reality of factory farming is coming to light.
Everyone has the
right to know that antibiotics and hormones maintain farm animals alive
in spite of their pain and suffering. The callousness of the factory
farming industry is undeniable and regrettable. God’s will calls for
compassion towards all creatures and a plant-based diet is a true
expression of it.
