Dan Piraro’s art and activism
Dan Charles Piraro (1958) is a surrealist painter, illustrator, and cartoonist best-known for his award-winning syndicated panel cartoon Bizarro. Vegan since 2002, he explains the reasons that lead to his dietary change http://www.bizarro.com/vegan/vegan_why.htm.
Moreover, he has become an animal welfare activist though his cartoons, which although humorous, show the reality of the exploitation of animals raised for food and the toll this is taking in humanity's health.
