Over fishing consequences
In spite of living in a fallen world, we are still called to be
obedient to God. We are still called to be good stewards of God’s
creation and that includes respecting the perfect balance in nature.
However, greed and profit drive the food industries and the fishing
industry, is once again, on the spotlight.
According to Australian fisheries officials, Japan has been catching
three times its quota of southern blue fin tuna during the last 20
years. An Australian official said that "Essentially, the Japanese have
stolen A$2 (US$ 1.53 billion) worth of fish from the international
community and have been sitting in meetings for 15 years saying they are
as pure as the driven snow." It’s believed that this over fishing has
killed the stock.
