Humane farm initiative
We often hear about the callousness of the modern farming industry. I’m very glad to say that the following article sheds a glimpse of hope.
The Arizonans for Humane Farms, a coalition of animal protection organizations, environmentalists, food safety organizations, and concerned citizens, is promoting a ballot initiative that would make the cruel and intensive confinement of pregnant pigs and veal calves on industrialized factory farms illegal.
Moreover, the coalition is looking into preventing other such pig or veal operations from opening in the state of Arizona. This article reports the detailed participation of a Catholic activist and the support of her church priest on this issue.
