1. Brave High-Schooler Saves a Chicken and Educates
Thousands of People
A very courageous 16 year-old girl named Whitney Hillman snuck out of
her class with a chicken tucked under her arm in order to save his/her
life since the students were required to slaughter the chickens as a
part of an Animal Science and Food Production class. She shares that
before this incident she had never connected what happens to animals to
the food on her plate, but after she saved Chicklett she couldn't eat
chicken again. It is important to note that permission slips are widely
used by this school for everything from field trips to R-rated movies.
But when it came to slaughtering chickens, parents were left uninformed.

Children should be encouraged to show compassion toward all
creatures, but sadly in many schools around the country they are taught
to become insensitive toward the pain and suffering of God's animals.
Whitney not only saved the chicken's life but taught a life lesson to
thousands of people.
2. Famous Quote
“The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of
man.” — Charles Darwin, English naturalist (1809–1882)
3. Paul Watson Shares About His Anti-Whaling
Activism
Anti-whaling activist Paul Watson speaks in this interview about the
human-whale relationship and why his advocacy implies intervention and
not passive protesting. He also shares the tremendous impact a dying
whale had on him and how this changed his life forever. Watson also
discusses his reasons for being vegan and asks people to do so as well
in order to save the oceans. To read the full article please visit 'You
don't watch whales die and hold signs and do nothing'
What an admirable job Paul Watson and other whale activists are
doing! Already the oceans have been decimated and majestic creatures
like whales endure a horrific death. Watson's life exemplifies what it
means to be a good steward of God's Creation.
4. Bible Verse
(RSV) Luke 2:8-11
And in that region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping
watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to
them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled
with fear. And the angel said to them, "Be not afraid; for behold, I
bring you good news of a great joy which will come to all the people;
for to you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ
the Lord".
How wonderful it is that we have the freedom to remember and
celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, who brought with him the way to
peace, love and justice! May the grace of God and Jesus' teachings
permeate into every life so we can all actively participate in the
reconciliation of God's Creation.
5. Dogs As Food
Li Jiahui, a woman in Beijing, helped save 12 large dogs that were
destined to be sold for human consumption. This woman spotted the dogs
being transported in appalling conditions, one on top of the other, in
the back of a small truck. Even though the police got involved, they
unfortunately could only save 12 out of 60 dogs. Many of these were
wearing collars which would suggest they were someone's pets. To read

God's animals are treated as commodities everywhere in the world,
regardless of the place and the species of animals. While most people in
the Western world would be appalled at the dog-eating practice, these
same people would not think twice about eating other animals. Eating
dogs or cows or pigs (or any other creature) shows how humans can
rationalize their actions in order to avoid a moral dilemma.
6. This Week’s Video – Undercover Investigation
at World’s Largest Pig Producer
The Humane Society of the United States released shocking undercover
video footage from its recent investigation at a Virginia pig factory
farm owned by a subsidiary of Smithfield Foods, the world's largest pork
producer. The video shows disturbing cruelty such as extreme confinement
in "gestation crates", untreated injuries and open pressure sores that
developed from their merciless confinement, and pigs seen engaging in
disturbed behaviors, such as repeated bar biting, indicating severe
distress. Some had even bitten so hard and frequently that blood from
their mouths coated the fronts of their crates. Piglets are taken from
their mothers when they are as young as 10 days old and packed into
overcrowded pens after having their tails cut off, their teeth clipped
and their testicles ripped out of their bodies without any painkillers.
After five or six months of this torture they are loaded onto transport
trucks and shipped to slaughter.
