exalted in the earth!"

joyfulness of all Creation praising God.
5. The Price We Pay for Cheap Meat
This article explores the main reason why scientists believe the
swine flu arose: our desire for cheap meat, or in other words factory
farming. The author, Johann Hari, correctly explains: "Instead of having
just 20 pigs to experiment and evolve in, the virus now has a pool of
thousands, constantly infecting and re-infecting each other. The virus
can combine and recombine again and again. The ammonium from the waste
they live above burns the pigs' respiratory tracts, making it easier yet
for viruses to enter them. Better still, the pigs' immune systems are in
free-fall. They are stressed, depressed, and permanently in panic,
making them far easier to infect. There is no fresh air or sunlight to
bolster their natural powers of resistance. They live in air thick with
viral loads, and they are exposed every time they breathe in."

Hari: Life-threatening disease is the price we pay for cheap meat
How sad it is that we create so much misery throughout all Creation
with our lack of compassion for God's animals. Nothing good can come
from exploiting farmed animals while failing at our sacred role of
stewards of God's Creation. Maybe, the swine flu is one more wake-up
call for humanity to have a change of heart and start honoring all of
God's Creation.
