1. Factory Farms Transmit Diseases

Neal Barnard, President of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), provides invaluable insight on the true cause of many disease outbreaks among humans such as in the recent case of salmonella. Although contaminated peanut butter with salmonella is to blame, Dr. Barnard rightly points at the source of salmonella: factory farms.

What will it take for us, humans, to realize the tremendous devastation that industrial agriculture causes in God's Creation? Our health, the environment and animals are at the mercy of our actions.

2. Famous Quote

We are indeed much more than what we eat, but what we eat can nevertheless help us to be much more than what we are. ~ Adelle Davis (1904 - 1974), American pioneer in the field of nutrition.

3. Cruciferous Health News

A new study from the University of California, Los Angeles, has found that Sulforaphane, found in cruciferous vegetables including broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and collards, may help reduce the risk of respiratory inflammation that leads to chronic diseases such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

4. (RSV) Ephesians 6:10-11

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

We live in a world full of struggles and challenges that we must face daily. By placing ourselves in the hands of God and following Jesus' teachings of compassion and mercy we are able to withstand it all.

5. MRSA Linked to Swine Factory Farms

In this New York Times article, in the Opinion section, columnist Nicholas D. Kristof explains the likely relationship between the many new cases of MRSA (methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus) in people in Camden, Indiana and the hog factory farms in the area.

When we cause misery to God's animals, it comes around to us as well. The unimaginable suffering that pigs suffer in factory farms has no excuse, and shows our deplorable sense of stewardship. In other words, we reap what we sow.
