1. New Holland Sales Stables Charged for Cruelty

New Holland Sales Stables owner and employee have been charged with animal cruelty for not verifying a cow was dead after she was shot. The animal was found by humane officer John Matrisciano -- still alive and flailing, lying in a puddle of blood with a small-caliber bullet hole in her forehead -- after being alerted by an anonymous caller.

The way God’s animals are treated is appalling and also is an offense to our Creator. Unless we show compassion and mercy to animals, our fellow creatures, we will see no peace and healing on Earth.

2. Famous Quote - C. W. Hume

"The major cruelties practiced on animals in civilized countries today arise out of commercial exploitation, and the fear of losing profits is the chief obstacle to reform." ~ C. W. Hume (1886-1981)

3. NMA and AMI Pushing for More Cruelty

The National Meat Association (NMA) and the American Meat Institute (AMI) filed a lawsuit in December to overturn part of a California law set to ban the slaughter of non-ambulatory farmed animals for meat for human consumption that reads: "[N]o slaughterhouse... shall buy, sell, or receive a non-ambulatory animal. [N]o slaughterhouse shall process, butcher, or sell meat or products of non-ambulatory animals for human consumption" and further that "[N]o slaughterhouse shall hold a non-ambulatory animal without taking immediate action to euthanize the animal." NMA and AMI argue that federal law, which does permit slaughter of non-ambulatory goats, pigs and sheep, supersedes state law.

God's animals suffer so much already in humanity's hands at factory farms that it is unbelievable that both trade associations above, who are seemingly run by people with hearts of stone, are not even slightly sensitive to non-ambulatory animals. This, once again, proves that the meat industry has no regard whatsoever for the lives of farmed animals; and that greed and profit supersede any sense of compassion and mercy.

4. (RSV) Galatians 6:7-8

"Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. For he who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption; but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life."

Every action has consequences. When we act out of love and compassion, we are closer to God; however, when we give in into our sinful nature, we grow farther from God.

5. Anti-whaling and Pro-whaling Supporters Unable to Have a Dialogue

The International Whaling Commission (IWC) is facing a challenging year as pro-whaling and anti-whaling supporters are unable to have a dialogue and reach a compromise. "There are no dialogues, it's just shouting matches sometimes," Morishita said of annual IWC meetings. While many countries are strongly opposed to whaling, such as Australia and Great Britain, Japan says that killing whales is no different than killing any other animal.

Japan is right in that killing whales is no different than killing any other of God’s animals. Humans tend to hide behind excuses in order to seek pleasure and fill their desires. While some people do not include any animals in their circle of compassion, others include pets and a minority of humans does its best to include all creatures. It is evident that we live in a fallen world and that perfection is impossible, but trying our best by the grace of God is honoring and glorifying to our Creator and brings reconciliation to Creation. It’s important, however, that anger and resentment do not stand in the way of compassion and mercy. Shouting and blaming rarely achieve anything.
