Welcome to the weekly CVA blog! In it you will find famous quotes, news and commentaries.

2. Famous quote – Edwin Way Teale, Circle of the Seasons, 1953
3. Fishing Industry to Collapse within Decades

1. Global Warming Consequences: Researches at the CNRS Institute Pluridisciplinaire Hubert Curien in Strasbourg, France, have raised their concern about global warming effects on King penguins, who feed on fish and squid at the northern edges of Antarctica. Because of the raising temperatures, their food supply has diminished cutting the survival rate of adult King penguins.

The effects of animal agriculture on global warming cannot be ignored, given it produces 18% of greenhouse gases. As long as humanity keeps exploiting God's animals for the sake of profit and pleasure, the generations to come and the rest of Creation will face hardships due to or disobedience to follow Christ's teachings.

2. Those who wish to pet and baby wild animals "love" them. But those who respect their natures and wish to let them live normal lives, love them more. ~ Edwin Way Teale, Circle of the Seasons, 1953

3. Fishing Industry to Collapse within Decades: According to the head of the United Nations Environment Programme, the combination of climate change, over-fishing and pollution could cause the collapse of commercial fish stocks worldwide within decades. This scenario could translate into inevitable loses of fauna and hardships for the generations to come.

When we exploit God's Creation indiscriminately, we are causing misery to not only to humans, but to animals as well. Transitioning to a plant-based diet helps us to be good stewards of our bodies, alleviate animal suffering and reduce environmental degradation.

4. (RSV) 2 Timothy 1:7

"...for God did not give us a spirit of timidity but a spirit of power and love and self-control."

As children of God, we are called to stand up for God's Creation and Jesus' teachings. We are filled with God's Spirit and we should participate in the reconciliation of God's Creation with love and discipline.

5. Sharks in Danger: According to an expert from the World Conservation Union (IUCN), populations of tiger, bull, dusky and other sea sharks have decreased by more than 95 percent since the 1970s as fisherman kill the animals for their fins or when they scoop other fish from the ocean. In fact, the scalloped hammerhead shark will be listed on the 2008 IUCN Red List as globally endangered.

Unless humanity stops or decreases significantly the consumption of fish, the devastating effects of the fishing industry on the aquatic fauna will be irreversible as many of God's animals disappear from the Earth forever.
