1. Correction

Last week’s e-newsletter included a discussion about a blog at www.chompingclimatechange.org that was incorrectly attributed; in fact, the article was published without any byline.

2. White Coat Waste Movement Program

"Socialized Medicine” is a 22-minute episode produced by TheBlaze (on Glenn Beck’s channel) is a powerful program that explores whether much animal experimentation is wasteful. Participants include a drug researcher who has concluded that animal models don’t work, a congressman who wants to see research dollars spent wisely, White Coat Waste coordinator Anthony Bellotti, and ophthalmologist (and CVA chair) Stephen Kaufman, MD. You can view the program on youtube.

3. Activist Report

Toni and Piper handed out 230 CVA booklets at the Rock and Worship Roadshow in Sacramento, CA.

4. This Week’s Sermon from Rev. Frank and Mary Hoffman

Risen Christ in Our Hearts and Souls

5. The April Peaceable Table Is Now Online

Contents Include:

  • The Editor's Corner Guest Essay, by Kim Carlsberg, describes a vivid experience she had of an unpolluted, paradisal world where humans cherish one another and animals as marvels from the Creator.  What kind of reality, she asks, does this vision have?
  • "Paradise is surrounded by hardships" a Muslim saying tells us; "hell is encircled by cravings . . ."  See Unset Gems.
  • Among the NewsNotes is the information that by 2018, Ringling Brothers Circus will have retired its elephants.  This is good news, but it should happen now.  Activism does bear fruit.
  • The Recipes are for Lemon Cashew Tarts and a Southwestern Chopped Salad.  You can't help but enjoy these!
  • Robert Ellwood reviews an important new anthology edited by Will Tuttle entitled Circles of Compassion:  Essays Connecting Issue of Justice, whose title speaks for itself. The preface is by Carol J. Adams.
