Fishes are treated as commodities to the point the fishing industry doesn’t even count them as individuals. They simply count the tons of fish they catch.
However, many studies and simple observation clearly indicate that treating fishes as commodities ignores the fact that these wonderful beings are sentient beings. Jonathan Balcombe, director of animal sentience with the Humane Society of the United States affirms, "The accumulating evidence leads to an inescapable conclusion: Fishes think and feel."
