Bruce Friedrich, Farm Sanctuary's Director of Policy and Advocacy and professed Catholic, explains why he’ll be paying much attention to Pope’s Francis visit to the US and to what he chooses to eat. Earlier this year, Pope Francis expressed his concern about the poor, climate change and animals. He went as far as stating that “other living beings have a value of their own in God’s eyes,” and that “each must be cherished with love and respect.”
Therefore, if indeed Pope Francis believes what he preaches, then he
should adopt a plant-based diet. No other choice is more effective and
significant as far as climate change, the poor and God’s animals.
Pope Francis, we will all be paying attention.
