Who is Truly a Happy Chicken?
Time magazine exposes the egg-industry in a compelling piece detailing the miserable life of the vast majority of egg-laying hens in the U.S., who live cramped in cages. These hens are debeaked, never see the sunlight, never breath fresh air, or touch ground, or mate, or dust, or bathe, or roost, or nest, or take care of their chicks. Time magazine offers the reader alternative solutions offered by the egg-industry, which is very slow at the time of making changes: free-cage hens and enriched cages.

It’s very important to clarify that although cage-free and enriched cages might mean a better life for these hens, this is hardly the solution to make chickens happier. The only happy chicken would be the one who is allowed to live his/her life without human exploitation enjoying his/her God-given instincts. The solution to battery-caged hens is to stop eating eggs.
