Humanity can learn much from the outrage over the killing of Cecil the lion. It is obvious that we recognize that animals are sentient beings, who are capable of suffering and whose lives matter to them much like ours matter to us. We also recognize that the causing of senseless suffering robs us from our humanity and violates our sense of compassion and justice. However, me must not forget the just in the U.S. 11 billion farm animals are killed every year unnecessarily --and very cruelly-- for their meat, eggs, and dairy. We cannot but ask, why the outrage over the killing of Cecil but not over the killing of farm animals as well?
