Marc Bekoff writes a compelling piece in regards to an article published in the New York Times by Rhys Southan, a former vegan, called "The Enigma of Animal Suffering." Bekoff challenges the reader to stop analyzing what seems so obvious already to human observation and what abundant scientific evidence also has shown: animals suffer much like humans.

Acknowledging that animals have been endowed with God-given instincts, desires and emotions is of paramount importance in order to carry out our true nature, one of love and compassion. Otherwise, we allow ourselves to commit atrocities toward God’s animals that harm us as much as harming them.
