The devastation and waste related to the fishing industry are appalling. About 20 percent of all fish caught by U.S. commercial fisheries is considered "by-catch," or unwanted fish, which translates into approximately $1 billion thrown overboard each year.

Billions of sentient beings are killed unnecessarily in horrible ways by the fishing industry. This industry also creates havoc in the oceans but destroying habitats and decimating species. Therefore, supporting the fishing industry goes against sustainability and compassion.
