Cruelty at Slaughterhouses
December 2010: Slaughterhouses in the United Kingdom have been in the spotlight lately thanks to animal advocacy groups that released undercover videos of animal cruelty. Due to consumer’s reactions, Morrisons, a large supermarket chain, has become the first supermarket to promise to install CCTV at its abattoirs to reassure the public.
Animal cruelty in slaughterhouses throughout the world has been very well documented. The number of animals killed every day and the speed at what this is done makes it very unlikely that God’s farmed animals don’t encounter pain and terror. The most effective way to ensure these animals are treated with compassion is not to support the dairy, meat or egg industries, and instead transition to a plant-based diet.
