Last month, Yellowstone Park witnessed the slaughter of about 2,000 bison, either by hunters or transported to slaughterhouses. The reason for the culling is that these animals might carry and transmit brucellosis to cattle.
Both, the public community and scientists were outraged at the slaughter. Scientists claim that Yellowstone’s bison are one of only two genetically pure herds owned by the federal government.
