Sadly, on August 8, 2007, scientists declared China’s Yangtze river
dolphin extinct after weeks of searching failed to locate even one in 1,000
miles of the river. The cause for extinction seems to be shipping and
accidental injuries from fishing lines and nets.

Once again we experience the tragedy of failing to be good stewards of God’s
Creation. The extinction of the Yangtze river dolphin could’ve probably been
prevented and clearly exemplifies the devastation that industrial fishing is
causing in the aquatic fauna. Switching to a plant-based diet helps us to
restore the environment or at least prevent further damage.
