Bird-flu update: While health officials and avian farms are preparing for
the imminent arrival of the bird-flu in the US, animal rights activists are
educating the public on the consequences of intensive confinement and
cruelty in poultry farms.
According to PETA spokesman Bruce Friedrich, "If you cram 50,000 birds into
a shed, breed them and drug them so they can barely walk, and coop them up
in their excrement, that's begging bird flu to come here."
