Bird flu seems to be a virus of our own making. We confine, abuse, and kill 60 billion land farm animals every year; and the facilities in which they are kept for their short, painful lives allow for viruses and bacteria to rotate, combine and mutate. Bird flu doesn’t commonly affect humans, but when it does, it has high mortality rates. Therefore, why risk an epidemic and kill billions of gentle animals simply for taste?
