Governor Christ Christie Bows Down to the Pork Industry

New Jersey’s Governor Chris Christie vetoed the bill that would allow pigs to have enough space to turn around by banning the extreme confinement of sows in gestation crates. The bill, which was favored by 93% of NJ residents, was of course rejected by the pork industry, especially by the Iowa factory farmers who support Chris Christie’s political campaign.

This is a clear example where compassion and common sense are overridden by profit and power. Although Governor Christie’s move was not unexpected, it was still deplorable. This shows how important the consumer is to the lives of God’s animals raised for food, who rely entirely on our capacity to feel compassion.
