Never before in history has the animal advocacy movement gained momentum
and supporters as it does today. For example, the Humane Society of the
United States (HSUS) and the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
(PETA) have seen their memberships increase substantially, while the animal
issues become part of every day life, from what we eat to how we dress, to
the courses taught in Universities. According to Michael Markarian,
executive vice president of the HSUS, "People have started thinking more and
more about how we treat animals in our society."
While it’s evident that God’s animals are exploited by humanity maybe even
more than ever before, it is also clear that more and more concerned people
are taking a stand for these victims and exposing the callousness of the
industries who perpetrate such abuses. The time is prime for everyone to
take seriously our role of stewards of God’s Creation and make a difference
in the lives of our fellow creatures.
