A group of extremist rabbis, the "Re-established Sanhedrin", wants to
resume the biblical practice of animal sacrifice at the Temple Mountin in
Jerusalem.
This request has caused protests from Muslims since the site is disputed in
the Middle East, home today to the Al Aqsa Mosque compound. Other rabbis,
such as Rabbi Doniel Hartman of the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem,
have pointed that “…animal sacrifice, as a mode of religious worship,
stopped," … "Moving back in that direction is not progress."
