Food Matters to Environmental Health

The fact that food and the environment are deeply linked is well-known by the scientific community. The animal agriculture industry is a great contributor of greenhouse gases; uses indiscriminately precious resources such as water, fossil fuels and land; and is a major polluter of land, water and air. This is why scientists urge congress to consider these issues when making dietary recommendation; however, congress –heavily influenced by this industry—chooses to ignore them.
