Vegan Mayor is Changing Lives
Ed Smith, five-time elected Mayor of Marshall, TX, is changing people's lives by encouraging others to replace animal products in their diets for healthy plant-based options. Mayor Smith became a vegan after a prostate cancer diagnosis in 2008 prompted him to eat as healthiest as possible. “Get Healthy Marshall”, the non-profit that Mayor Smith started, allows people in Marshall and neighboring cities to be exposed to and educated about vegan diets through monthly potlucks, health fairs, supermarket tours, etc.

Kudos for Mayor Smith! Elected officials are able to have a major impact on their constituents’ lives and Mayor Smith is proving to be an excellent role model in the area of health. Let’s hope his actions encourage others to do the same elsewhere.
